Meditation Is Not What You Think

Try meditating, it'll make you feel better...

When confronted with stressful or overwhelming moments, meditation is said to be the solution. The solve-all.

JuSt MeDiTaTe they say..

Let’s ask you something – why the f*ck is there a stigma attached to meditation? (this isn’t for you to answer). There's this preconceived notion/image of what kind of person meditates, and how it’s done – we’re not here for it.

This image makes the act feel boring, inaccessible, and an overall chore to achieve peace and well-being.

Meditation is practiced by different cultures in different ways, the common goal? Center the mind and increase awareness of yourself and your surroundings.

By doing this, you release the sh*t that doesn’t serve you in that moment.

Overtime, society created inaccurate attachments with meditation that are at most, a romanticized truth.

Guess what? THERE IS NO ONE FORM OF MEDITATION.

Meditation evolved into this buzzy phrase that’s overused by sTaRtuPs and misconstrued through Instagram wellness culture.

It’s like a game of f*cking broken telephone - It started off as one thing and now it’s filled with Instagram influencers telling you to inhale and exhale.. #nOrMaLiZeBrEaThInG???

There’s this idea that in order to meditate, you HAVE to sit down with good posture, you HAVE to hold your hands together, you HAVE to chant mantras, etc. etc.

Let’s take it back, if the common goal is to still the mind and increase awareness – who the f*ck says there’s one way to do that?

You do realize you can incorporate meditation throughout your day, right?

It’s as simple as focusing on the environment you’re in at any particular time. Do it while you’re running, while you’re showering, whatever..

We’re not here to tell you what to do to meditate (that’s up to you), we’re here to let you know there are no rules.

Keep in mind: This sh*t is a practice. It’s an active choice to be present and to be here.
